Candida Detox Chronicles: Day 9

Hello Detoxers,
After 9 days on our candida detox I wanted to post an update.  Not my usual style, so if you are looking for my regular frequency / spiritual / motivational  type stuff follow me on Instagram as - Janderella, on Twitter as - @JFloydHolistic or on Face Book https://www.facebook.com/OmniaLumen/
Remember - this is for educational purposes only.  This is not intended to treat, prescribe or cure anything.  Please seek advice from your health care provider before starting any program or taking any medication / herbs.
Ok, so here we go with all the detox details  you want to know - and some you probably don't.  We are doing this detox as a family, however, to keep it simple I will only be posting my experiences.
I am 9 days in to this candida detox and right now I feel like I could eat a whole wedding cake! My cravings come and go and are usually not this extreme.  Tonight though, is tough.  I have to admit - I caved and bought some sugar free candy for moments such as these.  I am adamantly against artificial sweeteners in any form and haven't bought or consumed any in years.  For this detox though, I would rather have the occasional piece of sugar free candy than have the actual sugar.  Sugar is a huge No-No when it comes to candida.  Candida thrives on sugar and simple carbs.  All of which are some my favorite foods.  I miss those little Hawaiian rolls that are slightly sweet, I miss brownies, bananas, grapes, and most of all I miss COFFEE!!!
Oh, but the good outweighs the bad in so many ways.  I feel so much better overall.  I've lost 9lbs, I sleep better, I'm not struggling to wake up in the morning, and did I mention I've lost 9lbs?!? LOL     I wasn't expecting to loose so much so fast.  And before you say it - it's not water weight.  I'm not taking anything that would promote fluid loss specifically.  I've always been careful about staying hydrated.  Besides, people who stay hydrated typically don't have an overabundance of  fluid retention.  Now, I can't claim that my weight loss is all fat either.  I'm sure it's a combination of some fat, some old toxic fecal mater (gross, I know), some fluid and some actual dead candida.
My biggest complaints have to be the cravings, the bloating & the zits.  Right now my face has 4 blemishes and a few odd bumps that are on their way to being zits.  We have all been bloated off and on since day one.  It comes with the territory and we still have a ways to go.  Thankfully, we have essential oils for diffusing in the house and for intestinal support.  We also have some great digestive enzymes that we love.  Also, on days 2-4 I was extremely tired in the afternoon / evening.  I just rolled with it and retired early on those days.  A little extra sleep is always welcome in my book.
Here is a list of some common signs during a candida die-off (otherwise known as a Herxheimer reaction).
  • Nausea
  • Headache, fatigue, dizziness
  • Swollen glands
  • Bloating, gas, constipation or diarrhea
  • Increased joint or muscle pain
  • Elevated heart rate
  • Chills, cold feeling in your extremities
  • Body itchiness, hives or rashes
  • Sweating
  • Fever
  • Skin breakouts
  • Recurring vaginal, prostate and sinus infections
  • Luckily, we have not experienced all of these signs!  I can't imagine how we would get through this if we had.

  • We have been eating mostly veggies, seafood, nuts/seeds & poultry with some sausage to keep the husband & the son happy.  Yes, I realize sausage is not a healthy food, however, in the short term and for our purposes it is allowed.  I also made a concession for Satsuma's since our tree is loaded down with these little orange-like gems.  Other than that we have had NO sugar, NO simple carbs, NO fruit, (other than lemons & limes) NO coffee, NO sweet potatoes, NO peanuts, NO mushrooms, NO junk food, NO fast food, NO processed food, NO milk products, NO cheese, NO desserts, NO, NO, NO.....  I miss homemade macaroni and cheese right now.  I do occasionally use organic, grass fed, unsalted butter and we do eat eggs.  We quit drinking cow's milk a couple of years ago, so that's not a big deal.  Ice cream though, was an occasional treat that I loved.

  • Ok, I have to stop talking about food before I do something I might regret.  Let's get on to supplements & essential oils.  Please know that I can't get into to much detail about what supplement or essential oil is good for which issue.  The regulations surrounding this are insanely picky.  Feel free to email me with any questions about the products we are using.  I will post links and please be aware that I do get a modest commission if you purchase them from me.  But hey - buy them from somewhere else if you like.  I'm just sharing what I'm doing & using.  The best part about this is it's working for us and it can work for you too!
Fiber - if you haven't read my previous post about fiber, please do so.  I am taking  Loclo Fiber daily.  No bloating, no nasty side effects. Yay!
Probiotic - Honestly, I am rotating between 2 probiotics. Not because I need to, I'm just trying to see if one works better for me.  So far, they are both excellent and I like them equally. They are Probiotic Eleven & Life 5.
Essential Oils - I am using these topically, internally & aromatically.  Some I apply to the bottom of my feet, some on my abdomen, some in my tea or water and others in my diffuser.  These oils have been a huge help for so many reasons.  They support my immune system, my digestive system, my mood and even help to banish some of my cravings. The ones I am currently using can be found here.  (I'm currently using oregano, lavender, ocotea, tea tree, clove, thieves, lemon, peppermint, eucalyptus, joy, stress-away & frankincense)
Herbs - I am using Pau d'arco for it's well known 'abilities'.  It strengthens the immune system and fortifies against "foreign invaders". (I highly recommend a quick search on Pau d'arco for loads of good info about it's benefits.)
I am also using food enzymes  milk thistle & digestive support as needed.  The digestive support provides friendly bacteria which helps support the immune system & the colon.  The food enzymes are a great help with all of this meat I'm eating. (I normally only eat poultry, seafood & deer meat occasionally rather than almost daily.)  I do take the milk thistle on daily basis to help support & protect my liver from toxins.
I  take 2-4 tablespoons of high quality, virgin, cold pressed coconut oil daily.  I get mine from a local shop, but this stuff is available everywhere.  Just make sure you get a good brand that has not been destroyed during it's processing.
On my list to use, but not for another few days is Inner Defense.  Why wait you ask? Simply to not overload my system.  Step 1 - kill the candida.  Step 2 - support the body. Inner defense is part of my step 2, but more on that later.
Protein shake mix - This is totally optional.  We happen to like having this option for busy mornings or even a mid-day snack.  My protein shake mix of choice is not on my meal plan right now.  I have two that I like for this detox.  One is called Love & Peas. It is totally sugar free and made with stevia.  It also has fiber, vitamins & is Vegan.  The other one is called Balance Complete and it has wolf berries, vitamins, coconut oil & whey protein.  This one does have a little sugar in it from the fruits in the ingredients, but is acceptable as long as there are absolutely no other sugars in the diet. I love both of these and they are both delicious!
Another thing I will be adding is a product called AlkaLime This is used to maintain proper PH, which can sometimes be challenging during this particular type of detox.  With such limited food choices, we often find ourselves a little to acidic.  This will do the trick.  BONUS - candida hates an alkaline environment!
Alright, so no pretty pictures or fancy blog stuff.  Just straight forward information of what I'm doing to kick candida's ass.  Feel free to email me with any questions you have OmniaLumen@aol.com.  Yes, I still use AOL - don't laugh to hard.
If you would like to have a personalized candida detox plan from a professional Holistic Wellness Practitioner who specializes in Holistic Nutrition contact me at the above email.  Not everybody's body is the same and no one detox plan is right for everyone.  Don't guess when it comes to your health.
Love & Light,

Natural Health Products - Do they work?

I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say they've tried natural product "x" and it didn't work.  They often say it was the most expensive one, or the clerk at the store said it was the most popular or even that it was in the nicest package.  They complain about how they spent the money and the product either didn't work well, or didn't work at all.

That's like walking into a drugstore and going to the cough & cold section and grabbing a random product off the shelf in hopes that it works.  Without a little knowledge of the ingredients or what it's actually made for,  you might as well eat a tic-tac.

There are a few reasons why so many natural products don't seem to work.  First off, not every product labeled 'natural' IS natural.  Marketing is everywhere.  Natural products & remedies are not immune to clever slogans and pretty packaging.  Don't be fooled, read the ingredients & ask questions.  Better yet, do some research & talk to a trustworthy professional.

The second reason why natural products don't preform well for John Doe is that not all natural products are created equal.  Like I said before, read the labels, ask questions, and get some professional assistance.  Just as you would go to a doctor for a prescription, you should go to a professional Practitioner to get the right remedy.  Professionals know which products are of  higher quality and consistently preform well.  Why?  Because they work with clients and these products on a daily basis.  Trust me, we know which ones are potent, proven to work consistently &  manufactured to a higher standard.

The third and likely the most common reason why natural products don't seem to work is due to the delicate balance of enzymes, ph, vitamins, minerals, deficiencies & so on that are already in the body prior to feeling ill.  So, when you grab a natural remedy for say, a stuffy nose, it might not work so great if your microbiome is out of balance.  Now there is what the Husband calls a "Five Dollar Word". LOL  The microbiome is basically your gut health.  When this is out of balance natural product "A" might not work for you.  You might need natural product "X" in addition to a vitamin or essential oil, or even an herbal supplement.

I've seen it all to many times.  Someone comes to me and says natural product "X" worked for Sally Snowball and it didn't work for me at all.  Well, my shortest answer to that is not everybody's body is the same.  With so many things to consider, it's no wonder that so many people pick up the wrong remedy so often.

Here is the best advice I can give you when using natural products.  Seek the advice of a well trained Practitioner first.  Ask a lot of questions, build a relationship with them.  Most Natural & Holistic Health Practitioners are more than willing to help educate you on the products and services they offer.  They will usually spend 1-2 hours with you at your initial visit, ask loads of questions and offer up free advice in addition to what you went in for.

Bottom line is: Yes, natural products Do work - especially under the supervision of a well trained Holistic Health Practitioner.

The time, effort and monetary value of a skilled professional is absolutely worth it.  Restoring yourself to optimal health is much more complex than just swallowing a pill or eating better.  Like I said before, not everybody's body is the same.  You are a unique creature of nature with unique needs.  Educate yourself, see a professional Practitioner, take charge of your health, and live fully.

Pre-Detox Sushi Binge

Ok, I'm usually not one of those gal's who posts pictures of food, but since we are chronicling our detox journey, here it is.  We are celebrating in a twisted sort of way.  Saying goodbye to some of the foods we love for a while feels a little scary.  At the same time, it feels good & we're pumped up about it.  We are celebrating the end of an era as well as new beginnings.

Yes, we ate every last bite and it was absolutely delicious and worth every penny!  No regrets moving forward with our detox after this meal.  This is not the last of the "last suppers", but it certainly is our most favorite.

Saying goodbye is a good way to prep for something like this. It allows you to have a form of closure on your old ways.  It makes room for, or paves the way for something new.  In our case, better health through a through detoxing.

We will be starting off Monday, November 2nd with what I like to call Phase 1.  This is when we will be starting our diet, daily fiber, daily lemon water, and daily essential oils.  Sounds like a lot and it is.  But - we are starting off slow to give our bodies a chance to adjust. The probiotics come a little later.  Why? Because we are waiting on snail mail to deliver them lol.  The herbs will be introduced a few days after our bodies have adjusted.  Why? Because by supporting our liver with essential oils and taking fiber first, we pave the way for everything else to work more effectively.  This also helps to not overload the liver all at once.  The liver is one of our bodies biggest filters.  We don't want it getting overloaded with toxins from candida die off on the first day.

We will be testing our herbals over the next couple of days just to make sure there are no adverse reactions.  After all, just because it's natural doesn't mean its ok for every body.

We will be taking specific herbs, probiotics and essential oils based on months of research specifically related to candida overgrowth.  I will post links to the products we will be using so you can research them if you want.  Yes, I do get a modest commission IF you choose to purchase them from my link.  But hey, you could purchase them directly from the company if you want.  I'm certainly not trying to sell you anything.  I'm just trying to be as transparent and helpful as I can be.  I want you all to be inspired by our journey as well as be successful in your own.

Remember, the products we will be using have been selected based on our individual needs.  I am also doing muscle testing to ensure that each of us gets exactly what we need.  And, since I am a spirit junkie, I will also be meditating and prayerfully considering our unique & individual needs.

Let me not forget to tell you that we will be omitting the following from our diets:
wheat (and most grains - this means rice, pasta & breads)
sugar (any and all of it, even raw honey & fruits - oh  man, help me now!)
dairy
coffee (yes, don't come to my house anytime soon! I might not be a happy camper for a while lol)
peanuts, pistachios
mushrooms
processed foods
potatoes - all potatoes for at least a month.

Now do you see why we allowed ourselves to indulge in the sushi dinner?  I will miss it for sure, but I'm also sure that it will be totally worth it in the end.

Here are some basic candida overgrowth signs & the spit test.  Of course, none of this is as definitive as having a medical professional diagnose your specific condition.  These signs & the spit test should be used as a guideline for you to be self informed.  If you think you may have candida overgrowth please seek the advice and care of a medical professional.  This information is for educational purposes only and is not meant to treat, diagnose or cure anything.

Ok, spit test - Yum-O!  First thing in the morning before you put anything in your mouth spit into a clear glass of water. (Don't cough up anything, just spit.)

If your saliva does anything other than float on the surface after 15 minutes it's a good indication that candida is present.  The water could be cloudy or have any of the signs in the diagram below.  The cloudiness, appearance of 'legs' or even globs at the bottom of the glass are all indicators of candida overgrowth.  If you are unsure of your results please check with your health care provider. (and submit a pic and get some feedback if you like)

Additional signs of candida overgrowth can include:

bad breath or body odor
dry cracked feet - especially on the heels
cloudy urine
skin irritations (dry, flaky, scaly, irritated, blemishes)
bowel problems
trouble loosing weight
and even food allergies

OK, now you are armed with a spit test, a sushi picture and maybe a little to much grossness for one day.  lol  I urge you to nourish your mind, body and spirit with clean water, lots of veggies and lots and lots of meditation &/or prayer.  Spend some time in nature.  Go earthing, go for a walk, go get a massage, GO FOR IT & Go Tigers!  (had to get a little LSU action in there haha)

Pre-Detox Chronicles Part 1 - Fiber

Please be aware that for the next several weeks I will be chronicling our personal family detox journey.  This is not my usual style, however, I wanted to present a real & unedited feel to this blog during our journey.  We are detoxing for many reasons including yeast overgrowth.  We are also taking this opportunity to detox or Cleanse our spiritual selves and other aspects of our lives.

If you prefer to not hear about bodily functions, tortuous fiber drinks, sugar deprivation induced madness, random thoughts, funky new recipes gone wrong (or right), herbs and essential oil faux-pas and other miscellaneous  weirdness that might lean a little towards the Misfit - Hippie realm, then please, for the love of God, don't read my blog until after the new year. And please don't correct my grammar.  When I go back to writing more formal posts I will re-implement proper grammar.

OK, the fiber in the Orange container is definitely NOT my friend! LOL.  Nothing against it, it's just not for me.  I've been using the LOCLO fiber in the white container for years with no issues.  I have even used that most popular Meta... fiber without complaint.  But this organic 365 brand will be finding a new home far, far away from me! I didn't even take a full dose (2tbs).  I took 1 level teaspoon and OMG the agony almost brought me to tears.  It kept me up most of the night feeling like a balloon with a pin hole in it.   Funny and gross, I know, but hey - if I can save you from the pain it's worth it.

Lesson for today - always test your fiber for a couple of days with a small dose before taking the recommended amount.

I can't even imagine how miserable I would have been had I taken the recommended amount.

Please note that everyone is not the same and what works for me may not work for you.  This post is intended for educational purposes only.  It is not intended to treat, diagnose or cure in any way. Always consult with your health care professional before taking any supplements or OTC products.

If you are interested in learning more about the LOCLO fiber or ordering some for yourself, click the link below.    http://healthybayou.mynsp.com/index.html   It actually tastes ok - kind of like apple pie.

Just the word "detox" sends a shiver down my spine.  Sure, I've done the simple, regular detoxes and actually quite enjoyed them. My results were always great with no long term commitments. *The cost of your products is the only cost to you.  While some people may spend around $40.00, others may spend $130.00 or more to accomplish their unique health goals.
*Keep in mind that this upgrade involves the body, mind and spirit and takes significantly longer than the typical detox.  This means that your cost could be more or less than what is listed here.
*We will be eating real whole foods that are organic whenever possible, antibiotic free & hormone free.
*There are no hokey diet foods, juices, or bars to buy, just real good food.  Your local grocery store, health food store, fruit/veggie stand or farmer's market is all you'll need as far as food goes.

Here are a few things we will be doing during our Upgrade:
Meditating, encouraging each other, educating others, sharing recipes, explaining detox signs & effects, sharing tips, tricks and hacks for making it easier, sharing our favorite products and how to get them on the cheap or FREE, exercising even when we don't want to and so much more.

Did you know that getting a massage helps support your body's natural ability to detoxify itself? Yes, I will definitely be scheduling several massages!

When will we be starting this?

We have a few more details to work out on the logistics end before we officially 'start' the program.  Don't wait until the last minute! We are happy to help you get your products & your personalized plan ready now.  A few extra days of mental preparation is ideal for a detox/cleanse such as this. Getting your shopping list ready and planning/prepping meals ahead of time also helps to make this experience easier, so Don't Wait!

The official start date will likely be November 2nd.  You know what that means don't you?  That means you will have enough time to Rock the New You for the holidays!

Reiki + Raindrop Technique Hybrid Session
Raindrop Technique
The original Raindrop Technique was developed by D. Gary Young of Young Living Essential Oils in the 1980's. This is a remarkable procedure that combines a variety of energy work and Mother Earth's natural medicines known as essential oils. This technique uses several powerful essential oils which support the immune system, enhance cellular communication & repair, promote detoxification and can aid in correcting misinformation within the cells.  Some of the oils used contain Thymol, antioxidants, phenols and are extremely beneficial to the body on a cellular level.

Essential oils are 'dropped' along the back and spine and worked into the body with a light to medium touch. Benefits of this include – stimulating the detoxification process, astonishing stress relief, increased memory & brain function, the rapid rebuilding of healthy cells, improves stamina, strength, endurance and energy, aids in rebuilding cellular communication, amplifies spiritual connection, elevates mood and sense of well being, better sleep, supports and boosts the immune system.

Reiki
Pronounced ray-key - is a light touch healing technique developed in Japan by Mikao Usui and later brought to the United States in 1938. Reiki is often known as a spiritual healing practice and is based on the belief that there is an energetic flow in and through all living things. When this energy or “chi” is blocked the body can develop dis-ease or dis-comfort. A Reiki session restores this flow of energy, naturally helping the body's own innate ability to rediscover wellness.

Benefits of Reiki include: better sleep, better digestion, increased energy, heightened spiritual awareness, can strengthen the immune system, can reduced or eliminate physical dis-comfort & promotes a sense of well being.

The powerful combination of these two techniques being led by Source will almost always produce an immediate positive response.  The beauty of a hybrid session is that it listens and responds to the specific needs of the individual. Because of this, no two sessions are exactly the same.  While many benefits are immediately evident, the positive shifts in your re-balanced body, mind and spirit may be experienced for days or weeks afterward, with some finding long-term health, vitality & balance.

 Go With The Flow

We've all heard the phrase "Go with the flow" at one time or another, but what does it really mean?  Some would say that it means to roll with it, or don't let things get you down.  Others might say it means nothing at all and is just an expression.  Still, there are others who would say that it refers to getting in and staying in a particular state of mind or awareness.  Most people would associate this with a type of life force energy.  When this energy is sync with your thoughts, words and actions, amazing things can and often do happen.

Synchronicity is a concept created by psychiatrist Carl Jung, which holds that events are "meaningful coincidences" if they occur with no apparent causal relationship, yet seem to be meaningfully related.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronicity

Let us take it a step further and explore the possibilities of what it means to get in and stay in what I like to call "The Flow".  There are several meanings, words, religious associations and negative connotations associated with this type of topic.  We are not going to debate any of those preconceptions, but rather, explore what this is so that you can form your own opinion.  So for now, put aside everything you know about this subject and let's dive into this with both feet.

I'm sure you have heard what Albert Einstein said.  He said energy can neither be created nor destroyed, that energy can only change form.  With this in mind let's take a look at fire.  Fire is the energetic signature of matter changing form.  Fire creates as easily as it destroys.  You see, the wood has energy within it and when burned, that energy is released in the form of heat and light.  Similarly, the sun's energy can be harnessed and transformed into power that is capable of running your entire house.  Even the average human, when at rest, produces around 100 watts of power.  Think about the defibrillators doctors use to 'jump start' the heart when someone has a heart attack.  Basically, it's like jump starting a car with a dead battery.  Power enters the body via electric shock and wha-la.  The human body transforms this raw energy into a living being.  Amazing right?

The difference between going with the flow and stepping into the flow is this - Going with the flow implies that you are unconsciously in this state where as Stepping Into The Flow implies a conscious decision to be there.  There are many reasons you might choose to step into the flow.  The Flow, or  Universal Life Force Energy has been tapped into for thousands of years for everything from healing to love, to wealth, to luck and almost any reason you can think of.  Some call this the power of prayer, others call it coincidence, luck, love, magick, witchcraft, or any number of labels.  The truth is - your core belief system will dictate what you call it.  Whatever term resonates with your inner truth is perfectly perfect.  I am not here to debate cultural beliefs or individual paradigms or perspectives, but rather, to act as a facilitator and guide who helps you find what already resides within you.  Your personal truth.

"Synchronicity usually operates in a sequence. First, you identify an Intuitive thought or hunch that suggests a course of action that will move your life forward. Don’t be too introspective here, just be aware of the thoughts that come to you and seem necessary to pursue. Second, when you follow the intuition and take this course of action, you find yourself in a place where a Synchronicity occurs. In turn, giving you just the information and clarity you need at the moment. The Universe is designed to help you, but you have to pay attention."  ~James Redfield

Posted in Best Of, Spirituality

There are many labels you can affix to what being in the flow is like.  This Synchronistic Awareness Vibe or Frequency is more than just a feeling or a hunch.  This is when your mind, body and actions are working together with the Universe to produce the outcome you desire.  Another way to describe this would be the integration or alignment of your beliefs with your behavior, aka- praxis.  I'm sure you've thought of a friend before, only to have them call you out of the blue, right?   Maintaining awareness of these happenings is imperative to remaining in the flow.  Taking action when it appears is what produces results.  You see, different energies resonate at different frequencies.  Raising your frequency allows you to be in the flow, and that's where all the magic happens.

Albert Einstein said it best when he said "Everything is energy and that's all there is to it.  Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality.  It can be no other way.  This is not philosophy, this is physics."

A healthy adult resonates between 62 - 68MHz, canned or processed foods resonate at -0- MHz, and then there's love.  Love resonates at a whopping 528HZ.  Having this new awareness of your personal vibe or frequency is important.  The awareness alone is a big step in the right direction if you want to experience all of the wonderful gifts our universe has to offer.  There are some very technical quantum physics studies out there that support this concept, however, we aren't getting into those today.  For those of you who wish to take a deeper look at this, I recommend checking out the Maharishi Effect.

There is a constant flow of energy that is forever moving into and out of form & changing as it flows.  This energy is ever-present and everywhere.  Hypnotherapy and meditation are excellent ways to get the brain into the Alpha and Theta states.  These deeper states of consciousness are a good way to raise your frequency.  Feeling happy is another way, and likely the easiest.  Therapeutic grade Essential Oils are an excellent addition to any of these methods as they typically resonate between 52 - 320MHz.  Once you become more familiar with synchronicity and it's subtleties you will begin to experience it more and more often.  I usually find that it presents itself in a way I was not expecting.

Being aware of synchronicity and paying attention to it on a daily basis can and does produce some amazing results.  Results that will usually exceed your expectations.  Yes, you can have that great job, exotic vacation, loving partner, sports car, fit body, better intuition, successful business, big house, loving family and anything else you desire by simply changing your frequency.  Don't take my word for it, try it for yourself.  Do a little research on the subject and have faith in yourself.  Yes, you can do it, and you certainly deserve to have an abundant life.

A Great place to start if you are new to this whole synchronicity concept is the book The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield.  http://www.celestinevision.com/books/

Synchronicity and the Flow of Positive Energy

Today I thought I would dive into the topic of synchronicity, what it is and how to experience it more often.

Why would you want to be synchronistic and what would you be in sync with anyway?   Lets take a look -

What is synchronicity -
My understanding of synchronicity is when everything just seems to fall into place.  Have you ever run into just the right person at just the right time?  That's synchronicity.  Have you ever needed a few extra bucks or received an unexpected check in the mail or found a $20.00 bill in your jacket pocket?  That's synchronicity.  When your wants and needs are aligned with your true purpose & intentions, things in life just seem to work better.  Some call it luck, others might call it easy street, and I call it synchronicity. Whatever you chose to call it doesn't matter.  What matters is the real life results you experience when you become aware of it.  The more synchronicity you experience the better you are at identifying it.  the more you tune into it, the more you attract it into your life.  This is kind of like tuning into a radio station on an old fashioned dial.  A little to far to the left and all you get is static.  Being aware of synchronicity is more important than understanding it.  Why? Simply because the actual process of being in a state of awareness acts like a beacon for more synchronistic events to come into your life.

What on earth are you trying to be in sync with anyway?  Truth be told, there are more ways to answer this question than there is room on this blog.  But here is my simplified take on the subject.  I align myself with the flow of positive energy.  Sounds hokey right?  Not really, and here's why- According to Einstein, energy can neither be created nor destroyed.  Energy can only change form.  Even if that was all you knew about energy, you could easily assume that by changing your energy you could change your life.  There are tons of quotes, books, guru's and experiments that go on to explain and document this in greater detail.  However, for today's purpose, let us agree that different energies have different frequencies.  Frequency is just the rate at which energy vibrates.  I'm sure you have heard the phrase "I have a bad vibe" from at least one person before.  That's exactly what I'm talking about.  The key here is to stay in the positive spectrum of energy because this is where all the Magic happens!

So, how do I get to the positive spectrum of energy and once I'm there, how do I stay there?
Getting into the positive spectrum of energy is easy.  All you have to do is make a conscious choice to be happy.  Sing a favorite song, dance in your kitchen, reminisce with an old friend, go play, have some fun and remember what it 'feels like' to just be happy.  You will know when you are in the positive spectrum of energy because you will feel happy, you will feel the joy and you will feel the love.  You will know when you are in the negative spectrum of energy because you will have feelings of things like doubt, guilt, and self pity.  When these feelings creep up on you it's your job to observe them briefly then move on.  Don't sweep them under the rug, just acknowledge them and more forward with your day.  The quickest way to turn a negative into a positive is to get out there, be happy, go play, and remind yourself that you are in control of your mood.  Laughter truly is the best medicine.

Here is a list of easy-to-do things that can help encourage and maintain positive energy flow:

1. Laugh daily & often
2. Meditate daily. (as little as 10 minutes or as much as you like)
3. Pray
4. In case you have forgotten, figure out what really makes you happy.
5. Don't be afraid to be silly, embrace it.
6. Just the act of smiling helps increase your mood.
7. Keep a gratitude journal.
8. Exercise - even if it's just a few minutes.
9. Get enough sleep. (7-8 hours minimum)
10. Aromatherapy - yes, this actually works.
11. Creative visualizations (often incorporated into meditation)

I highly recommend daily meditations as a way to release the negative energies, increase positive energy flow and restore overall balance.  If you don't know how to meditate or aren't sure if you are doing it right, contact me and I will be happy to share my meditation techniques with you.

As I stated before, everything resonates at a particular frequency.  Even the oils used in Aromatherapy.  The use of essential oils can help to maintain and sometimes even facilitate positive energy flow.  I have experienced great success when I combine meditation, essential oils and visualizations.

Remember, there is no "One size fits all" when it comes to getting in and staying in the flow positive energy.  Try combining different techniques and keep a journal of what works best for you.  Keeping track of synchronistic events and how you got there will help you to map out your own personal recipe for success and happiness.

Benefits of Mindfulness & Meditation

Mindfulness Meditation and what it means for your health.

There are several studies and recent articles about how the regular practice of  mindfulness and meditation can help alleviate all sorts of aliments like stress, inflammation, stabilizing blood pressure
and so fourth.  The more recent findings suggest that the daily practice of mindfulness combined with meditation is having a positive affect on aging at the cellular level.  Several articles are suggesting that not only does this practice benefit stress levels, but that it actually has an anti aging effect on the body's cells.

We are all aware that meditation is beneficial for many things and these findings just add to the long list of reasons why you should  be meditating on a daily basis.  What does the addition of mindfulness mean to you?  The practice of mindfulness can be generally summed up as having awareness.  Being aware of the thoughts & emotions you are experiencing at or during the time of experience.  Your part is to process this information as if you were an observer.  As an observer, you are not allowed to interfere with the thoughts and emotions.  What does that even mean?  That means you are not allowed to judge yourself, your thoughts, or emotions when you are practicing mindfulness.  You simply acknowledge the thoughts, feelings and emotions you have at that time.  You are certainly encouraged to explore the source of those feelings and thoughts, but do so without judgment.

Most people find that the more they practice mindfulness the better their results are. Generally speaking, there have been reports of feeling calmer, more alert, less stress, the tendency to have an overall better attitude and improved health.

3 Reasons you should be practicing mindfulness meditation

1. The reduction of aging on a cellular level.
2. The overall reduction of stress and the physical concerns associated with it.
3. Aids in alleviating negative self judgment which promotes overall wellness.

*A side note about me*

Yes, I do meditate daily.  I have been incorporating mindfulness into my meditations as well as specific quantum physics techniques for the past several months and I absolutely love the results!  I also use several tools with many of my meditations.  Some of my favorite tools are specific music frequencies, pure organic essential oils and particular lighting and crystals.  Although they are not necessary, I find them helpful in adding to the whole experience.   If you would like to learn more about any of these topics feel free to contact me.  I am always happy to connect.

Top 5 reasons to DETOX

1. Detoxing helps remove toxic build up in the body.  Things such as artificial colors, flavors, pesticides, preservatives, etc... can all build up in the body over time.  Detoxing (or cleansing) can help to remove these things.

2.Detoxing can help improve digestion.  This means you would be helping your body to reduce things like bloating, gas, and even body odor.

3. Detoxing usually provides an increase in energy and helps to promote a feeling of well being.

4. Although weight loss is never a guarantee, regular detoxing can help promote a slimmer and healthier you.

5. Detoxing helps to promote better nutrient absorption in the body.  This means that the foods you eat are better absorbed and therefore better utilized by the body.  This makes eating all of those greens you didn't really like worth it!

Hypnotherapy: Chronic Pain Management

Hypnotherapy: Chronic Pain Management

My freakin' back #1
Chronic pain sufferers have many options today when it comes to managing their pain.  Clinical Hypnotherapy is quickly gaining ground as an effective way to manage chronic pain. Pain that lasts for more than three months is considered chronic.  This pain can stem from a plethora of reasons such as cancer, back pain, fibromyalgia, injury, and so forth.  Clinical Hypnotherapy is becoming more and more popular as people seek out alternative modalities that work.  Simply speaking, Clinical Hypnotherapy is a shift in consciousness that can facilitate healing on a physical level, a mental level and even a spiritual level. Hypnosis allows the client to remain in total control while in this relaxed state, because the subconscious is in alignment with their values, morals and judgment.
“Hypnosis is the epitome of mind-body medicine. It can enable the mind to tell the body how to react, and modify the messages that the body sends to the mind.” – New York Times
In 1996 a panel at the National Institutes of Health found medical or clinical hypnosis to be effective at relieving cancer pain.  More recently the California Pacific Medical Research Institute has revealed evidence that Clinical Hypnotherapy is indeed beneficial for pain management.  Additionally, its use prior to surgery can significantly reduce postoperative pain and shorten the recovery time.  Brain scans of patients in a hypnotic state have shown a significant reduction of activity in the part of the brain responsible for the experience of pain.  This means that even though your brain knows the pain exists, it doesn’t have to relay that message to your body.
USUHS-Samueli Institute
Here are three basic points you need to know about using Clinical Hypnotherapy in conjunction with chronic pain:
  • Hypnotherapy does not treat the underlying cause of the pain. However, it can be extremely helpful in managing and reducing pain.
  • Make sure that you choose a professional hypnotherapist who has experience working with chronic pain. Hypnotherapists often have areas of specialty just as a medical doctor would.
  • After having your initial hypnotherapy session, you will want to schedule followup sessions as needed to measure and maintain your success.
“Hypnotherapy is accepted as an evidence-based intervention.”
Good hypnotherapists will teach you complimentary tools and protocols that you can implement at home to help mitigate the pain if needed.  These tools may include things such as aromatherapy, meditation, visualization or any number of complementary modalities tailored to your particular needs.
Although it’s true there are a few people who cannot be hypnotized, it is possible to overcome with a skilled professional.   Should you fall into this category, don’t get discouraged.  There are additional techniques, such as meditation, guided visualizations and other modalities, which can help reduce pain and increase your chances of success with hypnotherapy later on.

REIKI: Sleep (Jan Floyd)

Sleep Like A Baby
Whether it’s helping you get to sleep, stay asleep or get a better night’s sleep, Reiki is definitely worth trying.  Reiki (pronounced Ray-kee) is Japanese for Universal Life Force Energy or Spiritually Guided Energy.  Reiki works off of the principle that energy is running through everyone and everything at all times.  This energy is what binds all living things together, like a network.  Reiki is an ancient form of healing which uses both laying on of hands and floating hands techniques, through which the life force energy flows.  Reiki balances the subtle energies within us which allows the body to heal.  Think of a Reiki Master or practitioner as a conduit for this energy, like a straw, if you will.  The energy flows from the Universe through them to the recipient. It does not originate in the practitioners themselves.
Reiki is widely known for its wondrous effects, not only on recipients, but also on practitioners.  Reiki is great for numerous concerns, such as pregnancy, premature birth, miscarriage, infertility, menopause, obesity, eating disorders, grief, stress, depression, shingles, IBS, burns, arthritis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, seizures, stroke, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, addiction, headaches, sprains, back pain, anger, anxiety, PTSD, auto accident injuries, post-operative recovery and almost anything else you can think of.  Reiki is particularly beneficial in addressing insomnia.  The healing energy of Reiki is reported to have a soothing and calming effect for insomnia sufferers.
REIKI
Reiki is divided into three levels of practitioners: I, II and Reiki Master.  Reiki sessions can last anywhere from a few minutes up to an hour and can even be done remotely.  The Reiki principles that energy is always in constant flow and binding all living things together allows for successful distance sessions.  This means that the Reiki practitioner does not have to be in the same location as the person receiving Reiki.
Self-care with Reiki is wonderful as you could practice Reiki anytime you wish.  There are several benefits to this. Sleepless nights are a great place to start.  Subtle energies flow to exactly where they are needed, in the quantity, frequency and format that are required.
 Mowaffaq-Eylon head Tantur 090607
Both the Reiki treatment sessions and practitioner trainings are referred to as “attunements.”  This process is similar to tuning in a radio station on an old fashioned radio dial.  There is a process in which the Reiki Master attunes or aligns you to this energy.  This process is combined with a short course or class so that you can learn how to tap into this energy.
Practicing self Reiki in the evenings before going to sleep is a wonderful way to end the day and promote a more restful night’s sleep.  Many people report feeling a sensation similar to a warm blanket when receiving or practicing self Reiki just prior to going to sleep.  Reiki is so effective that according to Veterans Today, in 2009 the United States Army implemented a four million dollar program to study the efficacy of alternative therapies for veterans suffering from PTSD and insomnia. Reiki was included in that study.

The 5 Reiki Principles
Just for today I will not anger.
Just for today I will not worry.
Just fot today I will be grateful for all my blessings.
Just for today I will work with honesty and integrity.
Just for today I will be kind to all living beings.
These are good principles to live by even if you are not familiar with Reiki. For more information on Reiki, contact Jan Floyd HWP, RM, CHt.

I am often asked what exactly is Clinical Hypnosis? Here is my simplest  answer.
"In short, hypnosis is a shift in consciousness that can facilitate healing on a physical level, a mental level and a spiritual level. Hypnosis allows the client to remain in total control while in this relaxed state because their subconscious is in alignment with their values, morals and judgment. This means that you would not do anything under hypnosis that is contrary to your beliefs."
~J. Floyd

This picture is what Clinical Hypnotherapy looks like.  You will notice that there are no pocket watches or people dancing like chickens.  Clinical Hypnotherapy and Transpersonal Hypnotherapy focus on relaxation and the intended goals of the client.
Hypnotherapy itself is

Transpersonal Hypnotherapy is extremely effective at managing, reducing &/or eliminating concerns such as:  migraines, anxiety, chronic pain, phantom limb pain,  acute pain, addictions, PTSD, weight loss, smoking cessation and of course, stress.

Check these stats out regarding Hypnosis and its effectiveness for healing after injury or surgery -

Healed 41% faster from fracture
Healed significantly faster from surgery
Two studies from Harvard Medical School show hypnosis significantly reduces the time it takes to heal.

Study One: Six weeks after an ankle fracture, those in the hypnosis group showed the equivalent of eight and a half weeks of healing.

Study Two: Three groups of people studied after breast reduction surgery. Hypnosis group healed “significantly faster” than supportive attention group and control group.
